I can't imagine there's any issue in any of those places. We've rented through VRBO in the Dordogne and with AirBnB in several small towns throughout France. Airbnb vs. HomeAway/VRBO vs.Booking.com - Rick Steves
The fourth place was in a good location, near the Bahnhof, and rented on Airbnb for 75€/nt. VRBO showed no apartments, just a Best Western hotel, for over a hundred euro a room. Booking.com showed no apartments. They showed 6 hotels out of the 15 hotels shown on the town website.

Compare VRBO to AirBNB. I've used both, once each. Not a big enough sample to favor one or the other. I'm inclined to favor VRBO because it seems a little easier to use. I want to rent an apartment in Paris next year for a week or two in Arr. 4, 5, 6, or 7. I would consider 15 or 18 if the location is right.

VRBO Rental Problems and Fraud Listings? - Rick Steves
I then attempted renting 2 others and received emails from VRBO stating these were fraud listings. Curious if others have had these problems. I have used VRBO in the past. I'm seeing more and more reports of fake listings through VBRO and Homeaway that I'm now very reluctant to book through them. Trust your instincts.

8521 posts. Most Paris apartments are illegal including nearly all on Airbnb and VRBO. Many run by agencies are also illegal although agencies do pay taxes on them. The risk is that you could be expecting an apartment and have it pulled from the market at the last minute. Enforcement is spotty but has been stepped up.

178 posts. We used VRBO and rented a wonderful apartment in Paris. You can use PayPal for the deposit and final payment. Under no circumstances should you send all the money upfront by any method. You can usually tell by the reviews on VRBO (if there are some) whether the rental is legit or suitable. Posted by RGS OP.

Bainbridge Island. 07/01/17 07:13 AM. 3272 posts. The problem with VRBO and Airbnb rentals in Paris is that many of them are illegal. The rules are complicated. I doubt that Rick would be interested in listing such places as it would take some time-consuming research to determine if each apartment is a legal rental.
